Answers to your questions, and what others have to say about past events:
What I am NOT...
- I'm not some scratch happy hip-hop DJ that spins records with his elbows.
- I won't pull people off their chairs to make them dance - I let my music do this.
- I won't comment on your sexy legs or encourage the groom to use his teeth if you do a bouquet and garter.
- I don't play music with explicit lyrics if you don't want me to (gangsta rap, cursing…)
- I offer simple packages and I don’t hide any prices.
- I won't hang giant signs or banners off my table; it’s your event!
- I won't blab and talk on the mic the whole event.
- I will not drink tons of alcohol when I DJ your wedding, believe it or not many DJ's do.
What I will do for you:
- You'll deal with me from the first meeting to the final dance. Nobody will give me “their” version of your vision. I'll get it right from the source - you, my client. You'll have my cell number to call anytime you need me.
- You will have me at your event location at least 2 hours before it starts. No excuses - flat tires, engine trouble, bad traffic - no excuses period.
- You will hear all your agreed upon requests.
- You won't hear something you told me not to play.
- You'll hear names pronounced correctly during introductions and throughout the night.
- Another DJ won't end up doing your event or reception - if you book me, you get me - period.
- All my audio gear, will be professionally presented. That means, neat and with the cords tied/hidden, case lids tucked away and NO giant banners or signs.
- You will hear the announcements, not crackles and pops. My equipment will perform properly.
- You will see me wearing the appropriate attire to your event. At weddings I wear a black suit with black pants and a clean white dress shirt, with a black tie.
- You will see me dedicated to my task. I won't be talking on my cell phone during your event or texting friends and family. I am fully present to serving your needs. The success of your event is my mission.
- Do you have insurance?
Yes I do! Most venues require this and I have a $1,000,000 liability policy for all events.
- Why would we go with you as an independent over a larger company?
First and foremost you get to actually meet the DJ you'll be booking - me. It's a personal relationship that makes your event great. The more you feel good about your event DJ, the more likely you'll have a great event. Second, I am able to keep a real close pulse on quality. My clients come to me because they like the personal touch they don't get from the bigger companies, the one on one relationship.
- Do you have our special song?
Yes, though you may stump me from time to time. I have too much music to list. The conversations we’ll have prior to your reception assures you that I'll have your special songs and anything else you desire.
- Do you have any hidden charges?
No, there are no hidden set-up or travel charges whatsoever.
- Do you have different packages?
Yes, I offer different packages, depending on the event. Please check the proper page for the various packages available.
- What type of reservation fee do you require?
$200 check or cash to save your date. The rest is due before or on the day of your event.
- Do you require a contract?
Yes, and you better hope any DJ you're hiring does or you have to question why...
- Do you have a refund policy for weddings?
Yes, if you cancel your event and I am able to replace it with another event, you'll get your $200 deposit back.
- Will you help us pick out some bridal/special dance songs?
Of course! I'll give you plenty of ideas of what others have used but I won’t make the final decisions for you.
- What kind of music do you play?
The long and short of it - whatever gets the people at your event dancing. I want what you want - people having fun. The more they dance to a particular genre, the more likely I am to keep playing it. Whether it's 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, current, rock, classic rock, electronic or hip hop, - whatever it takes to get them up and moving.
- Can we come visit one of your events to see you in action?
For weddings, no. Keep in mind that this is actually a poor way to judge. The problem is you'd need to attend at least 3 events of the DJ's you're looking at hiring and take an average. Who has that kind of time? I've known plenty of terrible DJ’s that get lucky with a good crowd on occasion - so buyer beware.
- Do you help to keep the event flowing? Do you handle all the announcements?
Yes, I pride myself on keeping things running in a nice order to make the night run smooth. The client shouldn't have to worry about the details on the event day. This should be the time to enjoy and have the pros you hired make things happen. This strength is one of the reasons I am on The Red Horse Barns preferred DJ list - they know I make their job easy.
- Do we meet you more than once?
YES - We meet once initially to see if you want to book my services, then follow up to go over details of your day.
- What if you get sick?
I am a veteran in the industry. I have many DJ’s in my Rolodex and short of an accident en-route that left me hospitalized on the day of your event; I will be there for you. In fact, I even performed at an event only a week after having bi-lateral pneumonia! My fellow DJ's all help to back one another up, though it is rare we ever need to. This is a small personal DJ service where I establish a relationship of integrity, trust and concern toward a great outcome.
- What type of audio gear do you use?
I use a top of the line Pioneer DJM-700 effects mixer with Pioneer CDJ800 MK-2 CD players. A Macbook Pro with Serato Scratch Live, QSC K-12 powered 1000 watt speakers (arguably the best money can buy), a Shure SM-58 wireless microphone, a Gemini clip-on wireless microphone, American DJ Triple Flex LED light, American DJ LED Starball, American DJ Micro-Gobo laser, Chauvet Min Laser RBX, Chauvet Hurricane 1300 fog (when requested).
- Do you take requests?
With over 20,000 songs I will always do my best to meet any of my guest’s requests! Furthermore, we will be going over music before the event in order to ensure that I already will have you and your guests requests.
- Do you require a meal?
I never require a meal, in fact I have eaten at only a handful of events in ten years.
